How '0 can equal 1' and '1=1' distinguish
cosmic forces and mortal powers.
Mortals observe the universe
from a perspective where 1 always equals 1; the contents of anything
new must equal the sum of its originating parts. Our conception of
our origins is driven by the Laws of Conservation so '1 must equal 1'
But our enslavement to that
equation is built on the mortal experience and this creates dilemmas that,
whether you hold to either scientific or ideological principles, force a
reluctant acceptance that the cosmos can make zero equal one. However, when we
attempt to use mortal experience to assess the emergence of things, our '1
equals 1' perception fails.
So, the '1 must equal 1'
expression arising from universally observed conservation laws defines the
limitations of mortals. Whenever the 'zero is capable of equaling one' equation
is implied, the conservation laws are rationalized by there always being a
counterbalancing '1 equals 0' event. For example, mortals are conceived (0=1)
and must inevitably die (1=0). Your persona flows out of your conception moment
(0=1) and there will be a time when its presence becomes apparent. But all the
development that follows vanishes when you die.
Significantly, your persona
development embraces an awareness of yourself and your existence but only in an
intangible form. Your mind is the tangible product of intangibles such as
memory, emotion etc.; it is the tangible device that makes the intangible 'you'
emerge, but your persona doesn't take a tangible form.
There is no tangible source or materiality to your persona, but it has reality.
Its reality is apparent by your physical presence and other living beings around
you who also know you exist. Your pet knows you and your moods. Yet your
persona’s isolation from your body indicates how intangible it is since when
your body dies that persona disappears from the universe. Your unique you-ness
cannot be recovered from your tangible remains.
There is more to your story
and mine which gives insight into the 'zero equals one 'existence and that will
be seen as you read on. I introduced it above to show the problems surrounding
the emergence of the universe persist. The 'zero equals 1' events of which
the universe is capable are still occurring in abundance. I also wanted to
indicate that the 'zero equals one' type of event has personal relevance to us.
But our mortal experience
that 1=1 is founded in our experience of living in an observable universe where
conservation laws apply. Yet we are forced to concede that, unlike us, the
universe embraces both 1=1 and 1=0 capacities. This capacity highlights a
crucial difference between us mortals and the cosmos. It implies, quite
conclusively, that we mortals are incapable of matching what happens in the
universe.
We cannot create something from nothing or reduce it
to nothing. This includes the forming of a universe which has the dimensions of
our own. Without energy or matter to draw upon we cannot create those
ingredients. But our perception of the universe's emergence, via a 0 equals 1
event', implies that the death of our universe will be a return to nothingness.
This counter-balancing concept is equally impossible for us mortals to perform.
And this is true even if we try to do these things on a grain of sand, an
electron or a fundamental particle rather than a universe size object.
So
even our conception and death involve things that have existed since the
beginning of time, namely chemicals, energy and evolved processes. The source
for these three components is always traced to what emerged at the time the
universe took on a tangible form. But critically intangible things accompanied,
and made possible, the emergent tangible universe. Intangible things like time
and space, numbers, physical constants, and shapes were there and drawn upon at
the instant of the universe's beginning.
My interest in the
zero equals one capability of the universe.
This 0=1 idea is not new to me. When I was sixteen it was already part of my
thinking.
Once a week, my class teacher at Gawler High School,
Mr Colin Brideson, wrote the writings of a great thinker on the black board. It
was a brilliant teaching technique to encourage us to think about philosophical
milestones.
However, I thought that some
of these were confining, so I wrote some of my own thoughts on the black board
under a too obvious synonym. of Nalla Rebbeuu. One of those I presented was
'In everything there is nothing. In nothing there is everything'.
Mr Brideson on seeing it
said 'This seems a very religious view. What do you think?'
As he was looking directly
at me I replied, 'Well it is possible to see it as religious, however it is also
based in science. For instance, the Big Bang implies that all matter arose out
of nothing, which requires us to ignore laws of conservation of matter and
energy. And in addition, every atom is mostly empty, so in its nothingness
(space) there is everything that we know as substance.'
The visible and
hidden 'zero equal one' phenomena
There are an infinite number
of 0=1 phenomena that humans can notice but it is mainly the major tangible ones
that humans construct a means of accepting. The beginning of the universe is one
such event that we cannot ignore, nor can it be rationalized away. That
singularity carries an infinite number of tangible and intangible phenomena that
are not the product of fantasy.
Those that are tangible are
bestowed the honour of having an enigmatic origin while the rest are merely
ignored. They are not mentioned as being something that has come from nothing.
Yet the intangibles present at the Big Bang are a defining reality of the
universe appearing from the very start and have been critical in the shaping of
the universe ever since that event. They are real in the sense that they are
definable and able to be given values. One of these critical values is the speed
of light.
The speed of light is one of
the 'physical constants' and if you search for that term on the internet you
will get something like: :
Physical constants
are fundamental, invariant quantities that
describe the universe and appear in the basic equations of physics.
They are believed to be constant in both space and time, and their accurate
measurement is crucial for validating physical theories and enabling practical
applications. Examples include the
speed of light, Planck's constant, and the gravitational constant.
Of considerable importance in the above statement is 'They are believed to be
constant in both time and space' since this aspect is the major distinguishing
test for intangibles based on fantasy.
Beyond these constants there are other unique
phenomena that are real
equally but also lack
physicality.
Aspects of some
vital 'Zero equals one' (0=1) events
Although intangible, many 'zero equal one' type
events of the cosmos relate or depend on intangibles and so have aspects known to you and me.
For example, the instant existence of numbers,
space and time are just three phenomena that have reality of a definable type
without which there would be no universe as we know it.
Those presented in the above table were accompanied
by an infinite host of likewise essentials that are intangible but are apparent
by their measurable impact on products in our universe.
All these foregoing
constants and other intangibles that apply to the mechanics of the universe are
recognized in science as essential. Without them there would be no universe just
disorder or nothing at all. Moreover if they were slightly different in their
singular value it is recognized by scientists that the universe would not have
had the framework in which complexity of structures such as planets,
constellations and you could have arisen. Building a universe that lasts
requires stability and uniqueness and cannot be random or variable.
But the entangled reality that existed at the
beginning of the universe has other 'zero equals one' properties as illustrated
by quantum levels. An internet search for 'what is meant by quantum levels'
results in statements such as:
In the realm of quantum mechanics,
quantum levels refer to the discrete, specific
energy values that a bound particle, like an electron in an atom, can possess.
These levels are not
continuous; instead, the particle can only occupy certain distinct
energy states, rather than any intermediate value.
Note the above implies that every electron doesn't
move between energy states. Instead, it jumps so that at one instant it is in
two levels; there is no in-between time or space involved. This qualifies
quantum behaviour to be considered as having the capacity for 'zero equals one'
events.
That each of these intangible realities existed
alongside space and energy etc., at the time the universe emerged out of
nothingness, and each came into being in a well constrained form, means each one
has arisen via a quality or process that causes a precise something to appear
out of nothing. They are a set of 'zero equals one'. So, the Big Bang is not
just the emergence of a well-defined universe, but the emergence of all the
complex, well defined components that make that universe continue to exist
beyond that first instant.
As the universe progressed, new intangibles emerged
without any precedent, so life, awareness, memory and the life presence of you,
become the ever-present demonstration of the cosmos' ability to deliver
something out of nothing (0=1). And as these intangibles evolved, the zero equals one
phenomenon of 'conversion of intangibles to tangibles' also delivered a
continuous flow of change to the assets of the universe. For example, memory is
one intangible made possible by the existence of time, and can progressively
advance in its embrace of time and space to such an extent that a physical
presence emerges. Many things we now perceive as tangible are devices whose
origin lies in an intangible aspect.
Each of these devices such as neurons, brain etc
could only become tangible via processes that could participate in the spectrum
of zero equals one events that the cosmos possessed at the instant of the Big
Bang. Yet throughout time before that happened there was no visible prototype or
a scheme to guide the complex moves such devices require. There is a perfection
element in all these evolutionary steps but there is no detectable agency that
provides such a tool other than evolution.
There is a vast reach of time in which there were no
cells, another vast reach when there were no neurons and then a time before
there was any type of brain. So, each of these assets have no history of prior
existence and only emerge in that instance where they can maintain their
presence. Before that time there is nothing like it and nothing able to deliver
it. These events of newness are the cosmos’ legacy of creating something from
nothing. They too are zero equals one events.
EVOLUTION! The Cosmos' prime agency of eternal 'zero equals one' events
One of the most imortant
processes ascribed to the mechanisms by which everything has been shaped, at and
since the time of the Big Bang, is that of evolution. Below I show definitions
for this process (as presented in on-line search 18/7/2025) :
Evolution
of the universe refers to the series of
changes the universe has undergone since its beginning,
primarily described by the Big Bang theory. This includes the expansion from an
extremely hot, dense state, the formation of fundamental forces and particles,
the creation of atoms and molecules, and the subsequent formation of stars,
galaxies, and larger structures.
Life on Earth evolvedthrough
a long and complex process called abiogenesis, beginning with
simple organic molecules and eventually leading to the diversity of life we see
today. This process
likely involved the formation of a habitable planet, the synthesis of organic
molecules, molecular self-replication, and the emergence of cell membranes.
It is apparent that these processes are intangible
but also very real, since they lead to things we observe and experience in the
universe. But in the above on-line definitions for this process there is never a
value or anything that makes the evolution process something humans experience
through their senses. It is an intangible process, yet its products exist and
are real; so, it is a term that can be recognised as an example of a 'zero
equals one' phenomena. And this intangible phenomenon called evolution,
eternally produces both tangible and intangible phenomenon since new
environments bring their own attuned properties. In doing so it becomes the
closest phenomenon to that which underpins the existence of this universe. It is
therefore fair to say that it is the prime agency behind all the events where
the 'zero equals ones' label is relevant.
In the wording available on-line there is an attempt
to present a 'one equals one ' accompanying process that glosses over the 'zero
equals one' element embedded in the origin of the process. The first quote uses
the Big Bang as its cover while the second uses the phrase ' a long and complex
process called abiogenesis.
However, these attempts to rationalise the most
profound 'zero equals one' phenomena fail, because they merely pass that
embedded factor into a preceding scenario or rely on a name that tells us
nothing about the way evolution began.
Also, humans, via their cosmic experience, try to
give those names roles that only push the anomaly of zero equals one further
back beyond the initiating event. Scientists generally refuse to go down that
path and leave the anomaly hanging.
The choices made by others tend to be that
there was nothing before the Big Bang or there was some other way that the
universe was formed. In choosing the ‘nothing was there’ option, its authors are
clearly making a ‘zero equals one’ assessment for the origin of the universe.
They do so despite that equation defying the Laws of Conservation.
And choosing to use another agency capable of making
the universe, doesn't remove the anomaly.
For instance, if the Big Bang is the result of a
change in a preceding extremely hot state, it means that state inherits the
questions of how it got to exist and how it gained the properties needed to form
a universe. It is apparent that a pre-existent state is as inexplicable as is
how our universe gained its properties.
And there is no better answer offered by having a
creator since all the issues, mentioned above, remain. Energy and mass had to
have an origin that any nominated creator could draw on; and while pace and time
remain as intangible in both eras, without that agency having access to tangible
dynamic components the reality is that our universe could not happen. And to
that difficulty is added that a cosmos without those things would be rather
lonely for any creator, in a state where there is an eternal creator there is
nothing else either of tangible substance or intangible reason.
In addition, a creator solution to the origin of
everything makes that agency a source of 'zero equals one' events' and gives
that creating force the identical capacities as evolution. So we are still left
with the conundrum of 'zero equals one' events, no matter which form of
explanation of the tangible universe is adopted.
EXAMPLES of some 'zero
equals one' events that are transformed into an acceptable mortal 'one equals
one' understanding
We are all familiar with clouds. Often, we can see
them form above a mountain and disappear as a day grows warm. But we cannot see
their connection to the source. Air is invisible to the human eye but that is
where a cloud draws its origin and makes its disappearance. We understand this
phenomenon well, but many viewers don't have the insight that knowing its
mechanics offers.
Clouds represent different states of water. Those
states involve temperature and a small number of atoms that cause one hydrogen
atom to be bound to two oxygen atoms. But these clusters called water molecules
carry a charge which can cause these molecules to linger longer in the proximity
of another. At different temperatures the motion of these particles' changes,
and so at a certain coolness unbound molecules become attached in sufficient
numbers that they can be seen (0=1). And when the
temperature rises the increased agitation of the molecules cause the
electrostatic bonds to break and the cloud disappears (1=0). As this happens the
number of atoms and molecules remains the same (1=1).
The above example seems
trite, but it shows that paths for the sudden appearance of things are usually
able to be found when we have learnt the mechanisms involved. And because that
is the case for clouds in modern times it makes the zero equals one aspect
irrelevant. For it to be significant it is mandatory that some part of the
understanding must be incomplete. However, it can also be considered missing if
the missing gap or step is concealed by a linguistic device.
The second example I offer, illustrates in a more
intimate way why we mortals need to understand how 0=1 events are transformed
into a more acceptable 1=1 framework.
This example relates to you and all the mechanisms in
your past and present that can be considered 'zero equals one' events. There are an infinite number
of unique events, and they involve the evolution of concepts that have as
distant a time of first existence as the intangibles that transform into
tangible forms essential for life. You are totally dependent on these ancient
events for continuance of the 'zero equals one event 'unique to you.
I think we can all agree that you exist and who you
are is not explicable by any process. You are different to me and everyone else
and when any one of us dies we take all that uniqueness with us. Our death is a
'one equals zero' event just as our conception is a 'zero equals one' event.
Our conception brings
with it aspects that are shared by other living things. However, there is
nothing about the rest of the cosmos materials that suggests they possess
qualities such as awareness of existence, usable memory capabilities, repetitive
regeneration capacity, awareness of own existence, etc.
This tells us 'zero equals
one' events abound within life forms. And the cosmos has many other things that
are novel and as difficult to explain. One of which is that for a vast amount of
time the cosmos existed without anything being aware of its presence. From the
Big Bang up until awareness was first possible in living things, there were no
life forms. Despite there being nothing that was aware of the universe's
existence, it was there; a seemingly purposeless and pointless presence when
assessed using mortal values.
The universe was as real before life as it is today.
And we know living things are also real and have reality in their cells as well
as in the complex combinations that defines any unique and complex life form.
Trees are real, so are insects, fish and bacteria but their awareness of the
universe and their own being, differs. So too does the awareness of existence by
your cells and organs. It is self-evident that the cosmos doesn't need for
anything living to be aware of it for the universe to exist.
Additional 'zero equals 1' events of high
significance
And there
are many other propositions, related to the evolution of space and time, that
sit uneasily within the constraints of human perception. For instance:
How can space emerge from nothingness?
Surely if something can emerge from nothingness it can't have been nothing. And
conversely, if space is empty of everything, surely it already has infinite
existence and can't expand. Even if space exists with nothing in it, what exists
cannot be considered as nothing.
There is credible evidence
that the universe is expanding. We would expect that to be the case because of
the nature of light. Travelling as an expanding wave front it travels at the
maximum possible speed of light and even if this emission starts at the edge of
space its presence beyond that edge is an indicator that space is bigger than
before that light was emitted. This alone suggests that the movement of
electro-magnetic wave fronts are linked to the creation of new space. Another
factor that implies this same idea is that the tangible components of the
universe (fermions) do not expand at the same time as the part of the universe
not occupied by fermions (space). For example, the earth's dimensions and its
atoms and molecules don't change their size.
In addition, it is difficult for humankind to explain
how space can expand since the basic element of space is its emptiness. Its
expansion therefore implies that something that is nothing can be bigger. Space
is truly intangible, yet we know it exists.
Yet these conundrums regarding space arise out of the
constraints of the mortal mind. I believe that the resolution lies within the
evolution aspect of the two primeval zones (fermions and space. This
presentation of mine addresses these problems and in so doing acknowledges their
reality.
For much of
my life I have been fascinated by the nature of concepts as forerunners to what
evolution of the universe and life can do. In setting out my ideas I believe I
advance our understanding of the universe but in doing this I cannot take away
the common fear of mortality that some people have. Below I show my view of the
way the fundamentals, present at the time of the Big Bang, interacted to produce
our universe.
My
efforts in this article examine things that begin as purely
intangible and are transformed via the process of evolution into phenomena
representing a new material presence in the universe
And the neurons that
resulted from an earlier transformation were essential to its emergence.
Evolution transforms living things in a way which is explicable; but it is
hierarchical with each giant step requiring a series of giant shoulders for it
to happen.
At this
point I need to show how unification of the way the vast array of zero equals
one events are resolved, enables a robust 'one equal ones' status to be given.
Without a unified
method the constant gloss to dissipate the 'zero equals one' real nature of
events diminishes, rather than increasing, our understanding of the cosmos.
PATTERN: The vital intangible that makes all types of
evolution work
One of
the most telling examples of the need for a unifying model is seen in the two
definitions of evolution quoted above. They aren't wrong but I believe they
leave out a critical element. This element is that of pattern, which is a vital
part of every evolutionary process.
Pattern is intangible; a fundamental aspect of the
universe that applies unseen, unfelt, un-sensed order to everything that exists.
Pattern exists in
everything due to the fundamental nature of its components. Pattern is a product
of spatial boundaries in which motion, mass and energy are involved in motion
(flow) relative to those boundaries.
Peculiar things happen when these patterns shape the
flows that abound within any system. The critical aspect of the perfection of
physical constants is an example of this patterning process.
Such things as physical
constants of specific values are not the result of an agency’s selection; they
are inevitable values given by mass, energy, bounded space, time and the
relationship between these components.
The full range of intangibles that human-kind claim
aren't fanciful aberrations of the human mind include the concepts of numbers,
shapes, space, time, emotions, awareness and persona. The substantive test of
their reality is whether their perception across time and space delivers the
same result.
The
above concepts establish their reality via the tangible aspects that are
associated with the concept. Each has a different span of time over which they
have shaped the components of the universe. They may well have existed before
our universe began but at that time, in the absence of definable environments in
the universe, they remained hidden, and it makes little sense to say they
existed. The undetectable in the presence of a void has no relevance.
However, although this aspect of the longevity of
intangibles is valid, it is the time at which they were first detectable in the
universe that defines their relevance.
Time and space were the two intangibles of most
relevance in the defining moment when the universe emerged. At that instant many
intangibles such as pattern, shape, physical constants, existence, number and
many others all played vital roles. As new environments evolved the presence of
other intangibles such as life, awareness, emotions, concepts and persona
emerged. Critically, humans can ascribe an emergence time to each intangible
which is one measure of their reality. And the first emergence of each of these
intangibles is attributed to the ongoing evolution that follows whereby new
tangible and intangible components emerge which also can then be found in the
universe at each new moment following their first emergence.
This capacity to perceive
the existence of the universe is not an essential one for the universe to exist,
but the presence of evolution in that first instant enables the cascade of which
we humans are part.
Evolutionary Tree of Concepts
In a universe without life there is in all
probability no awareness of existence, yet there is an abundance of insentient
material that exists.
And this absence of awareness doesn't hinder
evolution as can be deduced from observed evolution events.
Critically, for life to emerge, there must be a
specific environment that is based on a pattern different from anything that has
gone into its own making. It requires a means of continuity that incorporates
its new replicating ability even as its environments change through its possible
range.
That
‘continuity’ quality is missing from the definition given earlier for biological
evolution, just as 'pattern' was missing from the definition of evolution of the
universe.
Their
omission from these definitions seems to reflect the low status given to the
evolution of concepts in a culture wants to distance itself from anything where
science can encounter a realm where fantasy also thrives. So, science takes
great interest in the evolution of tangibles such as rocks, planets, chemicals
and living things such as plants, bacteria, fish, birds, insects and animals,
but interest in things that are intangible but real isn't anywhere near as
strong.
Concepts and
intangibles such as space, time, motivation and will-power are part of the
scientific tools. Yet constructing their place in the understanding of the
universe's generative powers, seems to have been neglected.
My diagram of the Evolutionary Tree of Concepts shown
above demonstrates how these can be covered and I use such methods in
this article because I believe they are essential to a better understanding of
the universe's mechanisms.
CONTINUOUS REPLICATION: the
vital evolutionary quality that makes life possible
The definition of biological evolution given earlier also fails to mention
the essential mechanism that allows life to appear in the universe.
That element which is based on replication is as intangible as that of pattern.
Both are real but you cannot touch, taste, hear, see or anticipate either its
pattern or the driving processes that lead to replication. They are real but
intangible aspects of the universe. That reality is apparent however, via the
trail of tangible new environments that these processes leave.
Although intangible we can deduce pattern, as shown above, is a product of resonance when the existing tangible
and intangible elements are attuned. Likewise, we can also deduce life requires all these attributes
and more.
Of the additional factors required that of repetition of the parenting
environmental conditions is most essential.
Notably, although the resonance factor is as vital as
the pattern and repetition, unlike these latter attributes that are measurable,
the resonance contribution lasts only for an instant. So that instant when all
three are present marks the time each new environment exists.
So, the first instant of a life form takes place when
the pattern that makes it possible' not only exists but allows the essential
host pattern to persist. But this persistence doesn't mean new life forms will
emerge, only that they are exposed to every small change in the bounded range of
that pattern,
New
life forming environments do not occur because of selection or a plan. They
occur because evolution produces a hierarchical stream of new environments. The
Big Bang was followed by complex structures using atoms, molecules and light
etc., and this transformed into constellations, suns and planets, oceans,
rivers, streams, mountains etc. This is a hierarchy of tangible products in
which higher level environs utilize a multitude of steps, all of which arose via
the same mechanisms. Each step involves what were once new environments. And
they too were formed within their inherited patterns and their unique resonant
values. It is this succession of attributes that made life possible.
For life to evolve, it, like every step that preceded
it, did not require a selection or guiding agent. It needed the ability to
repeat and not be just a one-off event. One mandatory replication required by
that new environment was the vital life making environment by which it was
formed.
The evolution
of life began at the instant the new environment possessed this means to
transmit its heritage. This can be considered as a new but inevitably smaller
universe. You are one of those universes and your awareness of your existence
and that of the larger universe is one of the infinite things that have evolved
since your conception.
You are unique but there is evidence via twins that
who you become has a tie to the tangible and intangible factors in the
environment at the time you emerged.
There is another piece of evidence of this type in
the non-life matter of the universe via a phenomenon called quantum
entanglements:
Quantum
entanglement is the phenomenon where the quantum state of each particle in a
group cannot be described independently of the state of the others, even when
the particles are separated by a large distance.
The specialness involved in the emergence of a new
environment
In
reaching the point in the environment where the conditions are perfect,
evolution uses the singularly lonely moment when resonance taps the capability
of the inherited 'zero equals one' process.
It relates to pairing one element with another when
they are continuously adjacent in a bounded space for lengthy periods of time.
It is by this means that new environments are formed. The produced environment
qualifies as a ‘zero equals one’ exhibit since there is then a new element in
the zone which the two paired environments inhabited. The environments of the
parental twosome do not offer a product that is a small variation of themselves
but a complex newness that also converts intangibles into an ongoing physical
presence.
The
universe began in the same way and whatever existed before was transformed into
a complex environment where the two elements of mass and energy became
detectable while two others (space and time) continued as intangibles. But these
intangibles' reality was defined by the now detectable products of mass and
energy. These products persisted and because they also inherited the mechanism
that had seen the universe evolve, each component in the universe carried the
mechanisms that would see zero equals one events continue. This ongoing process
meant you could occur.
The universe was highly complex right from the
beginning. It is impossible to adequately explain how such vastness could emerge
from nothing and yet that is the only way a zero equal one explanation can be
avoided. Significantly, our universe would be as hard to explain if it were only
one grain of molten sand, or even an infinite numbers of grains.
In addition, a universe like
ours requires there to be precise physical constants, numbers, patterns,
repetition and individual intangible points where new things could emerge. It is
the eternal presence of this generation of the new that is the greatest
conundrum of all. Yet it is apparent that our universe began as an intangible
set of events whose mechanics guaranteed that existence would happen and that
when it did appear it would work as intended.
Note that we cannot escape this conclusion that it
came out of nothing; our human efforts only replace one implausibility with
another 'zero equals one' basis.
And each new environment shares the properties of its
founding pair. This applies equally to the bio-evolution stream; it also it
inherits the property of repeating the process that brought it into being.
It is by this means that your mind has the abilities
it has. And your mind is a new environment with bounds which in turn determine
new patterns in your mind from which, in the right circumstance, new life
attributes can evolve from within your genetic line. There are of course
innumerable millions of minds each capable of fostering a new stream of
evolution. In addition many living things have minds and each one may well have
a persona, or at least a unique sense of self.
We are at the modern end of this stream but we have a
confined evolutionary ability. You cannot beget a tree, a mosquito, your best
friend or a universe from yourself. Whatever evolves will be unique and yet
share the attributes from the distant past that resulted in you having a
persona.
The
complexity barriers and evolution
All new things face barriers to their coming into
existence. And often at least one of these can be so improbable that its ever
happening is nigh impossible.
There is no logical and rational source enabling the
existence of the universe yet the universe exists nor is there in an easy path
for any evolutionary event. There is no reason that there are patterns and
shapes yet they too exist. In fact the most rational position is that the
universe should not exist and then evolve yet it did and still does.
The universe's existence means that life forms,
capable of understanding the universe's mechanisms, are compelled to accept
that, unlike our life experience, zero can equal one. It is a fundamental
assumption that we cannot escape. And that conundrum is equally demonstrated by the
emergence of life within a universe that until its emergence had no tangible
source from which it could evolve.
For life to happen it had to
surmount huge barriers for every source that had a physical presence was devoid
of the qualities vital to the persistence of life.
By the time life emerged the
insentient universe had evolved along a hierarchy of form from fundamental
particles and energy to atoms, solids, liquids, gases, plasma, stars, planets,
galaxies, constellations, crystals etc. but none carried hints of life. Each of
these involves complexity making their evolution a big-step forward in the
pattern catalogues inherent in the cosmos.
And the universe and life are not the only instances
where this big-step anomaly has been displayed.
Look at an insect, a plant, the human eye. Look at
the perfection of function and it is apparent that their emergence faced great
barriers which meant any chance of its continuous repetition was extremely
unlikely. In a completed form with new abilities, it may have stood a chance,
but gradual means of progression imply there would be barriers.
If survival of the fittest
was the only essential for evolution it would be improbable any life forms would
have persisted more than a generation or two and in progressing forward the new
branches needed would lead to dead ends.
Yet we know evolution continues to develop new life
attributes that when detectable are perfect enough for that function to enhance
its host's survival. This is not something new it is part of the continuous but
intangible capacity of the universe to make the impossible come to fruition by
drawing on its existent pattern catalogues and their hidden possibilities.
Evolution is the
intangible but real vehicle that carries the initial zero equals one' legacy
throughout time and space. It
is this vehicle that offers a means of escaping the threat of the improbable. To do so
evolution relies on mechanisms that aid the creation of rich
environments where the fittest survive best but the lesser forms also
prosper and carry the 'zero equals one' capacity, forward.
There are a range of mechanisms that are present in the universe's catalogue
of hidden patterns. No selection is required because these mechanisms are
eternally present across space and time but only become apparent when their
involvement results in something new.
The strongest products produced by these patterns utilize feedback mechanisms.
This clearly indicates there is a system of intangibles that persist throughout time and space in the
same ways as number, shape and pattern. All these were present from the very
beginning wherever and whenever that event occurred.
The emergence of new, super rich
environments offers access to perfect quantum leaps where patterns persist
and are replicated in a unified stream.
Such an environment does so because
of resonance that occurs throughout such an environment. Resonance
accentuates features inherent in that space and changes the intangible to a detectable presence.
So when you blow across the end of a tube no note
emerges until you blow at a speed that is unique to the length and
boundaries of that tube.
You can see
these processes exist because you, your cells, your organs, your eyes, your mind
and your emotions exist. Your cells don't define you, neither does your mind,
but the awareness you have about yourself is intangible yet real and not tied to
any one of your parts. If you lose an arm, you don't necessarily cease to exist,
it is only if the loss causes you to die or your mind structures are destroyed
that the feeling of who you are ceases. Most of your cells cannot be used to
clone a new you, and those that can don't produce a being that copies the
uniqueness that was you.
Moreover, the feeling of you persists if you have an
implant or an operation. If you lost a leg that you-ness is not divided and
passed on to your leg. And in addition your you-ness is truly unique and only
exists while you exist but it doesn't remain the same; each instant is in itself
unique and doesn't exist outside that instant; so you can't renew your you-ness
by an operation that transfers a stored record of your you-ness to remake the
present you.
So just
by examining the mini universe that is you it is possible to appreciate the
persistence of 'zero equals one'. This quality that distinguishes the actions of
the cosmos from that of mortals has been present throughout all time and space.
Each part of you is an accumulation of previous 'zero equals one' events and
this antique lineage persists by your ongoing remoulding of the story of new
environments.
This
Revised Base Model for Evolution gives a more coherent way of understanding all
that affects your being here
This new base model for evolution relates evolution
to the patterns that arise in any new environment. It is this factor that offers
new possibilities arising out of that environment.
The mechanics that come with that new environment are
variations within the range that has always existed. It is a hierarchy that
evolves alongside the products any environment can and does produce. These
mechanics are identifiable by their products and hence can be seen to be both
real and reliable.
In
this revised base I demonstrate how this single model founded on the generation
of new, richly supportive environments, permits the intangible element called
evolution to carry the legacy of the universe's origin. The legacy is equally as
intangible for it is the eternal potential of patterns that were present before,
during and beyond the big bang, that can be drawn on. And importantly this
process can occur in a very similar manner, in and throughout the tangible
universe. Evolution
requires no plan, motivation, or reason for its requisite mechanisms of
repetition and resonance enhancing perfectionism are inbuilt in that same
eternal way.
The whole universe offers the product of this regenerative process but of those
countless and somewhat marvelous conceptions that of the unique double spiral helix and its chemical
reliance on a limited set of chemicals known as DNA, stands out. Its existence
represents a tangible product that enfolds and makes possible the evolution
of the intangible heritage at each stage of the universe's existence.
The
double spiral is a tangible structure of perfection that can and does utilize all
the mechanisms that ensure the eternal regeneration of natural things via
evolution.
The robust structure of a twin spiral that can divide yet retain all
that was there at the beginning is unmatched by any other mechanism. The
robustness of its structure has seen it remain the same since its origins at
the time of the first emergence of life. It was and is the supreme package
for delivering the mechanisms essential for evolution of life forms.
It wasn't there in a tangible form prior to life beginning yet it had
to have been possible. It was originally intangible, a part of the cosmos
patterning potential and only by the more primitive mechanisms that preceded
its tangible existence could it have come into being.
This is the same story as the beginning of the universe. Prior to its
tangible existence the patterns, shapes and the hierarchy of possible
combinations needed for it to become tangible, existed in an intangible form
dating back to the original eternity.
An
AI overview for 'DNA double helix in nature prior to life' gives:
The double helix structure of DNA is not believed
to have existed in nature prior to the emergence of life.
While the building
blocks of DNA (nucleotides) and the concept of nucleic acids likely existed
in prebiotic chemistry, the specific double helix structure, with its paired
bases and helical arrangement, is a product of biological evolution.
Although the above quote confirms my statements, it has a serious flaw that
accompanies older models. Its flaw is that it contains a gloss, rather than an explanation.
This flaw becomes very apparent when you realize that its conclusion
is that the processes
essential to biological evolution came about by biological evolution. It is
essentially saying 'zero equals one' without accepting its reliance on that
anomaly or offering an alternative path.
