At the forty-eighth climacteric degree,
At the end of Cancer very great dryness
Fish in sea, river, lake boiled hectic,
Bearn, Bigorre in distress through fire from the sky.

So the coming of the Holy Ghost, proceeding from the 48th degree, will make a transmigration chasing out the abomination of the Antichrist...1558 Henry Epistle (HEE11a)

One of the most prominent locations involved in Nostradamus' Prophecies isn’t in France nor is it in a neighboring country, it is Budapest in Hungary. There are eight verses where Hungary is directly mentioned, four naming Pannonia, an ancient region which includes Hungary, and four referring to the Danube, the river crossing most of the countries in that part of Europe. In Roman times the city of Buda on the River Danube was the administrative center for Pannonia.

At the head of this chapter there is a verse where the term 48th degree is mentioned and there is also a quote from the Epistle that uses the same reference point. The quote also includes references to both the Holy Ghost and the Antichrist names which bear links to  verses and quotes telling the story of a family based in Pannonia, that of the Barren Lady.

There are four entries in the Epistle where that region is referred to and in each case it is in a section that tells the story of the wars fought by two antichrists against a dynasty of religious warriors. My contention is that this dynastic family is central to Nostradamus' motivation and their story is about the engineered rebirth of the line of Jesus.

Now the 48th degree of latitude has a particular resonance with Pannonia, Hungary and the Danube for that is the parallel nearest to which the great city of Budapest lies.

So why was Nostradamus interested in Budapest? In 1526, twenty-five years before he wrote the Prophecies, the house of Habsburg, rulers of the Budapest region, lost a decisive battle to the Ottoman Empire and the lands of Hungary were partitioned. Prior to that time half of Budapest (Buda) had been part of the domain of the house of Anjou, a lineage that claimed descent from the Merovingian kings of France. It is potential remnants of this Angevin bloodline lingering on in the Budapest region that explain its relevance since some French legends trace the ancestry of the Angevins back to Jesus.

The quote below shows another clue Nostradamus left showing his interest in the events that partitioned Hungary and which placed two parts of Budapest under Ottoman control for several centuries. The quote also mentions a house and a great city called the Mesopotamia of Europe all of which complies with the idea of the House of Anjou's presence in Budapest. Prior to the Ottoman occupation Budapest had recently become a leading light of the Renaissance.

In the Adriatic there will be great discord and that which will have been united will be separated. Near a house a partition exists and it is a great city, including "Pompotam" the Mesopotamia of Europe....1558 Henry Epistle (HEE22b)

The text of the verse I used as the header to this chapter states there is distress from fire in the sky. This hints that the verse relates to the period at the end of this current century while the mention of the 48th degree suggests it refers to Budapest.

There are many anagrams that offer support. Of course like all the anagrams, the words so formed may be accidental. However the major tones derived from their totality are internally and externally consistent.

In this instance they hint at the northern alliance mentioned at one stage in the Epistle's stories of war. There are Bear (Russia) reprobing fear (Bear - n Bigorre p - ar fe), Seas financed (ſſe A - fin de Can), authentic (ante huict) and claim requite greed (degre - clima -terique). There are also anagrams for Norsemen (ſon en mer), stressed (deſtreſſe), fancied (A fin de C), seedline (iel en deſ) as well as arsenic danger (ancer ſi - grande), uranate (uarante), poisons (Poiſſon), increased danger (de Cancer ſi - grande), defiance (e A fin de C) and decline (ciel en d).

C5 Q98 At the forty-eighth climacteric degree,
At the end of Cancer very great dryness
Fish in sea, river, lake boiled hectic,
Bearn, Bigorre in distress through fire from the sky.
A quarante huict degre climaterique
A fin de Cancer ſi grande ſeichereſſe
Poiſſon en mer fleuue lac cuit hectique
Bearn Bigorre par feu ciel en deſtreſſe.

Many of the verses referencing this region are analysed in sections of my book covering the personages and events of the Jesus clone based wars. Of note is the entry in the chapter Nostradamus on War which covers the analysis of verse C7 Q19.

I stated in that verse that Nostradamus' war theme is inevitably about the technology of weapons but new weapons based on revolutionary chemical, biological and atomic physics as typified over the last century. I also showed how the Nicene fort alludes to the region of Obuda where the ancient Roman city of Aquincum stood in the early centuries after Christ.

C7 Q19 The fort at Nicea will not engage in combat,
it will be overcome by shining metal.
This deed will be debated for a long time,
strange and fearful for the citizens.

Le fort Nicene ne Sera combatu
Vaincu Sera par rutilant metal
Son faict Sera vn long temps de batu
Aux citadins eStrange eSpouuantal.

One of the significant parts of that verse is the complex series of anagrams saying 'Budapest's governmental factions' that complement 'This deed will be debated for a long time'  which appears in the third line of text. The terms Budapest and governmental are only found here within the anagram

And the nature of of the infamous deed is given more detail via the text and the anagrams of the last line of this verse. That line develops a clear explanation of the weaponry mentioned in the text through anagrams saying actinides strange weapons (citadins e - Strange - eSpouuan).  The term actinides relates to a series of radioactive shiny metals in the periodic table of known elements.

There is a further setting for a great city that is mentioned in a verse talking of life and death through the realm of Hungary. The great city may well be Budapest since there is a reference to the uniting of twins. Castor and Pollux are the two brightest stars of Gemini and the legend of these two has one being mortal and the other immortal. It should be noted that the city we call Budapest was in Nostradamus' day three separate cities, Buda, Obuda and Pest. It was many centuries before the cities were united to become Budapest.

This story of shared twinning may also be united in Budapest through the Angevin lines' occupancy of Buda since their heritage holds legends they were descended from Christ. This is not the only connection to the Epistle offered by the verse below since it contains a powerful link to the three brothers. The allusion of twins can be applied to the younger two of the three brothers who I have shown in other chapter are twins cloned from the line of Jesus. Their story in the Epistle tells us that at various stages they are at war with each other and this is implied by the last line of the verse below.

C2 Q90 Though life and death the realm of Hungary changed
The law will be more harsh than service:
Their great city cries out with howls and laments,
Castor and Pollux enemies in the arena.

The part of Budapest called Obuda has a special importance in Nostradamus' stories of the family which claims its line contains Jesus' DNA and the wars that engulf them. There are only two occurrences of anagrams for Obuda and they occur in verses where signs of this story are evident. Of course the signs are of a reduced form for they are not meant to take up valuable space needed for developing depth to the story.

So the text of C1 Q85 mentions the greater of the brothers and that two [of the three] will die. Of the anagrams that only appear in this verse there are ones for pallbearers (ble Par la reſ), anti-heroine (ont ire, haine) and encoded (once de d) while amongst those with only one other occurrence there are Obuda (a doub), anti-hero (ont ire, ha), virulent (nt leur vi) and enforcers (freres con)\.

C1 Q85 The king is troubled by the queen's reply.
Ambassadors will fear for their lives.
The greater of his brothers will doubly disguise his intent
two of them will die through anger, hatred and envy.
Par la reſponce de dame Roy trouble
Ambassadeurs mes priſeront leur vie
Le grand Ses freres contrefera double
Par deux mourront ire, haine, enuie.

In C4 Q13 verse the signs that link its text to the Budapest story line are again muted with the great one being its strongest hint. In this verse Obuda (a Doub) is found as an anagram in the last line while in the second line there is one for Pentecostalism (ait le camp s'eſton) and this is the only place the latter term occurs. Now Budapest is the center of a Pentecostal movement which has Christian Zionist leanings and oddly its views fit well to the concepts that underpin the story of a modern sect acting to bring about the resurrection of Christ.

C4 Q13 News of the greater loss reported,
The report will astonish the army:
Troops united against the revolted:
The double phalanx will abandon the great one.
De plus grand perte nouuelles raportees
Le raport fait le camp s'eſtonnera
Bandes vnies encontre reuoltees
Double phalange grand abandonnera.

Twins bring their wars into Italy.

There is another verse that uses the twinning ciphers, Castor and Pollux and it may also be part of the same story as given above. The bearded star mentioned at the end of its second line provides another cipher for the same period and places the verse in the early 22nd century when Nostradamus era of fire from the sky begins. The towns mentioned in this verse are Italian with a range of heights above sea level. Pisa (6m), Ferrara (12m), Asti (123m) and Turin (245m) suggest rising flood waters cause new civil laws to be imposed. The first line hints at another date by placing it before the death of the monarch which is probably the leading Jesus clone.

C2 Q15 Shortly before the monarch is assassinated,
Castor and Pollux in the ship, bearded star:
The public treasure emptied by land and sea,
Pisa, Asti, Ferrara, Turin [45 degrees] land under interdict.

In the Adriatic there will be great discord and that which will have been united will be separated. Near a house a partition exists and it is a great city, including "Pompotam" the Mesopotamia of Europe at 45, and others at 41, 42 and 37
...1558 Henry Epistle (HEE22b)

In the above quote the great city provides another link to the verses of the Prophecies, verses that reveal similar data to that already shown but also amplify the tales contained in the Epistle.

Refugees carry radiation poisoning into Italy.

Verse C4 Q69 is one of the verses where the cipher for great city is found. It contains anagrams for actinides storms (es citadin - s morts)  linking it to the tale of Budapest where a shiny metal is used to murder its people. The cities named in the verse help in setting a date late in this century since Aquileia is a low-lying Roman city along the Northern coast of the Adriatic Sea while Parma is currently about 65m above sea level.

C4 Q69 The exiles will hold the great city,
The citizens dead, murdered and driven out
Those of Aquileia will promise Parma
To show them the entry through the untracked place.

La cite grande les exiles tiendront
Les citadins morts meurtris et chaſſes
Ceulx d'Aquilee a Parme promettront
Monstrer l'entree par les lieux non traſſes.
